HOME PAGEWhen you sign in to Soil Science Society of America Journal Manuscript Tracker, you will be taken to your Personal Web Page that is titled REVIEWER and AUTHOR. You will find links for All Open, Completed, Help, FAQ and Home. Each of these links are described below. You will also see a report on the number of manuscripts you have to review and the number of reviews you have finished in the past year. You can click on these to see a listing of the manuscripts. All OpenClicking on the All Open link opens a page with a listing of manuscripts to review. You can access the Manuscript Record page by clicking on the manuscript title. In the manuscript record you will find all of the relevant information about the manuscript including links to the manuscript files. You can obtain the contact information of the Associate Editor by clicking on their name. Making a Recommendation, Submitting a Review, and Uploading Supporting Files At the top of the manuscript record is a row with actions you can take. These are Make Recommendation and Upload File. Click on Make Recommendation to start the process. First you will need to select a recommendation for the manuscript. Your choices are:
Below the Recommendation selection are two boxes. The first box is labeled Review Comments for Author. This is where you will submit your review comments. It is suggested that you first prepare your review using standard word processing software and then cut and paste your review comments in this box. Please be aware that only standard ASCII characters can be accepted and so special formatting is discouraged. The second box is labeled Additional Comments for Editors Only and is meant to provide you an opportunity to make comments to the Editors about the manuscript. These comments will not be shared with the author(s) and are meant to provide some additional clarity or other relevant information. You may leave this box blank if you so choose. We encourage reviewers to submit their reviews electronically, but many valuable edits are often made directly in the manuscript. If you so chose, you can inform the Associate Editor in the box labeled Additional Comments for Editors Only that you are following up your electronically submitted review comments by sending a marked hardcopy of the manuscript back to the Associate Editor to be forwarded to the Author(s). In fact, we encourage reviewers to do this. Clicking on the Associate Editor's heading will bring up the mailing address where the edited hardcopy version of the manuscript should be sent. When you are satisfied with your Recommendation selection and with your review comments, click on the Submit Review button at the bottom of the page. This sends your review to the Associate Editor. When you click on the Submit Review button, a page will come up with a message thanking you for your review. You can make changes in your review only until the Associate Editor takes action and accepts your review. This may be a few hours to several days or more. Therefore it is important that your electronically submitted review be submitted in a completed form as it will be difficult to reopen the review process once you have submitted your review. To make changes, use the Completed link and selected the desired manuscript by clicking on the manuscript title. Your job as reviewer is now complete. The Soil Science Society of America Journal thanks you for the time and effort you put forth in preparing your review. CompletedIf at any time you want to check on the history of your association with the Soil Science Society of America Journal as a reviewer you can click on the completed link. HelpClicking on the Help link takes you to this file that describes how a Reviewer can use ManuscriptTracker. |
